Synopsis

From city lights to cowboy nights, Lottie's heart must choose between rugged charm and untamed desire. . .

Welcome to Diamond Back the stunning, small-town series from Gemma Morr. Perfect for fans of Elsie Silver, Devney Perry, and B.K. Borison.

When Lottie Wright is made redundant from her London law firm, and finds out that her banker boyfriend Kyle is cheating on her, she gets the hell out of dodge and straight on a plane to Jackson Hole. Her plan is to get back in the saddle at her family's ranch, the Diamond Back, on the edge of the Grand Teton National Park.

Drowning her sorrows in a bar in Jackson Hole, things get steamy with a scrumptious cowboy called Cole and nothing seems to be going right once she realises he works at Diamond Back too—meaning their tension must be strictly business. And once on the ranch Lottie is thrown into the arms of bull-rider Beau who just can't seem to find a shirt to wear for all his rope-throwing. . .

So, under the vast western starry skies and in the shadow of the wild Rocky Mountains, Lottie must take the reins and figure out just who she wants to be and who will win her heart. . .

Review

I was given this book as a friend as part of a mystery bundle for Christmas. It came with lots of bits shoved inside the wrapping sleeve and it took me forever to unwrap it because it looked stunning but after plenty of nagging I unwrapped it because that friend wanted to know what book I got!

Cover. Stunning also and the painted edges.... glorious!

It became the first book in a while that I couldn't put down.

Lottie is living in London, after growing up in the the English countryside to an American mother and a British asshole father. After discovering that her boyfriend who is equally an asshole for cheating... you know one of those sons who were born into wealth and the mother is ghastly... Lottie does no more than packs her bag to go and spend time back home with her mother, while her father is away.
And lord would I love to be able to pack up my shite and decide mid escape that you know what, I'm going to visit family, on a ranch, in the states... a girl can only dream.

After arriving and feeling out of place, she winds up in a bar, drunk over her sorrows when Cole appears and they wind up tucked away with their tongues down each others necks. Romance!

Obviously though, Cole works on the said Ranch she's escaping too that's being run by her cousin and over the course of the book we get to watch those two, fall in love. We see Lottie help save the ranch and most importantly, Lottie finds her true self.

Not the self that is a expected and I loved that just ass much as the romance because expectations from our families and social media these days are rough and being authentically happy is rare so I loved that... unless I completely misunderstood the book and read it to fit my own wants in life.

Needless to say, on my lunch break as I finish the book, Becky, the friend who got it me, had to listen to lots of sighs about the book coming to an end and then me frantically looking or book 2!

So glad she listens to me (Becky) and her getting me this for Christmas.
