Synopsis

A fist fight, a snowstorm, a stolen kiss in the barn... and a second chance at love.

Ford Nixel has two law offices, two fancy condominiums, and all the right connections. In short, he has everything he wants.

The last thing he needs is his Uncle Ty’s stake in the Leaning N, a ranch that’s been in the family for generations. Ford hasn’t even been to the ranch in over a decade, not since he left his boyfriend Stoney behind and headed back to college alone.

Ford arrives at the Leaning N to find Stoney, now a single father, right where he left him. A fist fight, a snowstorm, and a stolen kiss in the barn later—Ford knows none of the heat between them has dissipated.

Review

I know I mentioned it in the last book I read... but, 'baby' is a whole new ick I never knew id have. I'm not marking it against the book.... just pointing it out.

A lovely 2nd chance romance. Cowboys. I mean I love it. Even if the cowboys are gay. I'm completely here for it.

After a hell of a long time, Ford is called back to the ranch after living it up as a lawyer in Santa Fe.

What stopped him going back? his ex, Stoney. They split ways, abruptly by the sounds of it and the next thing Ford knows, he got his cousin Brit, pregnant and is now a single dad.

I guess that would be heart-breaking and confusing to go through.

For the first few chapters I was confused. I was trying to grasp names, genders and roles. I think I finally got there. But I felt bombarded with names. And not just names, fun and quirky names. Like the soon... Quartz... gorgeous name.

Then came the loggerheads... then the 'moment' and then came the love.

The novel felt more cantered on the ranch than their relationship but it all slotted together perfectly.

The only mark down for me was, I believe the language.

It could easily be mistaken that 1 character said the whole book even through multiple characters... except maybe Geoff. Maybe the slang? I couldn't work out ⅐ of what they were talking about. Just like I wouldn't expect and American  to understand, "Aup m'duck. Ya bein mardy? Asz abaat ya gerroverit!

Wow the squiggly lines that appeared writing that.

Also Quartz is 9. I think and I swear he was way younger with how he acts... yet he talks like one of the men.

Not a bad book. I read it all which I wasn't expecting to do while reading the first few chapters. Glad I managed to stick at it.
